Imphal West district is one of the nine administrative districts of Manipur with its headquarters located at Lamphelpat. The district surrounds Senapati District on the north, Imphal East district on the east, Thoubal district on the south and Senapati and Bishnupur Districts on the west.
The Imphal West District comes under the Manipur valley region. It is a tiny plain at the centre of Manipur surrounded by Plains of other districts. Imphal City, the state capital is the centre of all-important activities of Manipur.
