Senapati is an administrative district of Manipur with its headquarters located at Senapati town. The district
is bounded on the south by Imphal District, on the East by Ukhrul
District, on the west by Tamenglong District and on the north by the
state of Nagaland.
The district is home to a variety of tribes. Their main occupation is cultivation. Shifting cultivation is being practiced since ancient time. The major rivers of this district are Iril, Imphal, Barak, Ithai and Irang.
