Ukhrul is an administrative district of Manipur with district HQ at Ukhrul town. The district
shares international border with Myanmar in the East and is bounded by
Chandel District in the South, Imphal East and Senapati Districts in the West and Nagaland State in the North. The topography of the district is hilly all through with the highest point of 3114 m at Khayang Peak.
A sizeable population of the district constitutes Tangkhul Nagas. A small percentage of Kukis, Nepalese and other Non-tribals also live in the district. The Tangkhuls have fair complexion and are more similar to the Mongolians in facial appearance.
